My Story
I come from a lower-middle-class family with a struggling financial background where it was hard for my parents to afford my school fees which trust me was very low. I always had clear in my mind that I have to do a job right after I finish my Senior Secondary Education.
I was a shy student in the school, low on confidence not too many friends, and often bullied due to being short heighted. I often used to skip going to school because I didn’t like a lot there and was an average student too with zero interest in studies.
Right after my 12th, 02 April 2014, I started working in a job for my cousin. I used to earn approximately 7000 Rs a month. Next month, my father got laid off from his job. As a kid who hasn’t even turned 18, it was a worrying thing, but I knew he would get another job. Which he got in October. Till that time, I didn’t use to keep even a single rs that I used to earn. It used to go straight to my mom’s hand.
After working for 8 months and providing for my family, I made the first expense of my life which was of buying a Jodhpuri suit for my cousin’s wedding worth 7000 RS which was my one-month salary. The happiness that I felt at that time is something that I would never be able to explain in words. It made me feel proud that I have done something and rightfully achieved it.
In January 2015, I started doing MLM, for the reason of not earning too much money but for the reason of having a different experience in life and learning things that I would need. It started well, I was enjoying the environment I was in but the sales weren’t turning in. Nobody was believing in me, except me.
Despite not doing anything good in it, I had great motivation and enthusiasm in me.
I left my job, started doing MLM only but nothing was happening in monetary terms. It went on till December 2016 after which I finally quit with no money but so many lessons and an experience that I didn’t think would be so valuable in long term. The two years of the unpaid journey completely transformed me as a person.
I got back to my job right after that and for the next 1.5 years, nothing interesting happened. It was a miserable time I would say. I only used to work in my job and used to play games on my phone, nothing else. I used to stay at my home for straight 8-10 days with ease, of which 22 hours at least in my room.
I realized that I wasn’t growing in my career as fast as my age. I decided to explore my career opportunities and went to a different city. The corporate city of Gurgaon welcomed me with a nice job but I wasn’t aware of the true colors that I was about to see.
I joined in July 2018 and was there for three months. In the first month itself, my health started diminishing, I did make some good colleagues but no friends, not even a single one “as a friend” and it is fine, it is how life is. I wasn’t able to support myself financially as well.
I decided to leave the city after receiving the second month’s salary. I packed my bag, asked the PG caretaker to return the security money which he said is only given back after one-month prior notice. I thought let’s leave the security and go back to Jaipur. I took my bag, booked my cab, and went to the main road to board it for the station.
3 boys with bulky physique came and snatched my bag, they threaten the cab driver in front of me and shoosh him away. They took me back to my PG and started arguing that I can not go like this, I would have to give one month of rent in any way as I haven’t given prior notice. Upon the hour of discussion, I gave up.
My roommate gave me advice. You haven’t told in the office that you are leaving. So don’t go. Give the notice in the PG, work for one more month, take the salary, take the security money and leave. I agreed. I stayed for one month and trust me it was the longest month of my entire life. The only thing that I didn’t do was crying even after living devastatingly.
My work was of providing technical support to US-based clients over the call and one of the parts of my diminishing health was choked throat. I didn’t use to speak much as it used to hurt but still, I was performing the best in my batch even though I would be leaving soon.
The month ended, salary came, I called my team leader and told her that I am leaving. She was in shock as it came unexpectedly. Not a single person in my team knew about it even though I had it in my mind for the past 1 month and it didn’t even show up in my work.
I came back to Jaipur, financially broke, devastating health, and friends with whom I was far for so many times.
Little did I know that this setback would push me in life. I came back started my job again and started looking for my clients through a freelancing platform. Initially, I used to feel bad with no response but then I had no other option except it, so I kept going and I finally got my first client after placing 150 bids.
For the first 3 months of my freelancing career, I had 3 clients and earned 5000 in total.
But soon the things were about to change, I closed one of the clients that were going to be my first big client. Things started taking off and my career was getting on track.
I started saving money and was ready to chase my passion for traveling. In the year 2019, I did 6 trips which started with a new year trip to Jaisalmer followed by Varanasi in March, the first group trip with a travel agency to Kasol in June which was also my first trek to KheerGanga. The next was a road trip, visiting Pushkar during Pushkar Fair and lastly, Tirthan Valley on New year.
However, in December 2019, my father left his job and it was again the slowest month of my career where I earned only 5000 rs a month due to the holiday season internationally. He asked me if I would be able to manage things, and I said Ok to him, so he left his job and technically retired since then.
January onwards, I started pushing in my career again. Fast forward to the second week of March 2020 where I did a fast trip where I with my friend Vikram covered 4 destinations in 4 days. Post that we welcomed lockdown in the last week of March 2020.
Now, during the time of lockdown, since the business was down, I couldn’t travel, I had to do something. So, I thought of exploring my writing passion. I started my blog Experiences That Matters where I began writing about my experiences. The first blog I wrote was “My group travel experience to Kasol”. It boomed, a lot of people loved it and I got so many appreciations for that.
Now, when I was building my blog, one of my friends Sachin from the same digital marketing space started helping me in doing SEO of the website and gave some blogging tips. While he was just helping me, I was judging his knowledge.
I wrote a couple more blogs and then businesses started opening up and I got busy with the work. The blog went away but Sachin was the takeaway for me for that time. When I was being too busy with the work, I asked Sachin if he would like to start an agency with me.
We both together laid down the foundation of Get Catalyzed and our agency came into existence. Though we were taking projects on our company name but didn’t have a website and didn’t make any official launch.
Now work was going fine, in the meantime, my passion was making me go out. I couldn’t go out of the city but started exploring some less explored destinations of Jaipur.
I visited the forest area of Papad ke Hanuman Ji, and then Hathini Kund which have become my favorite place in Jaipur.
During this time, I started the YouTube channel by the name of Wanderer On The Loose and made vlogs of these places which people quite liked.
I shot a few more but they didn’t come out ever as this is not my profession and I just do it for fun.
Fast forward to February, when I went on a trip to Mount Abu, Udaipur & Chittorgarh. Now, the interesting part was on this trip, I was the only boy and there were 4 girls. The trip had amazing fun and untold experience which I am going to write about on my other blog Experiences That Matters.
In March, I went on another trip to Rishikesh. Now going to Rishikesh was not a thing to tell, what is to tell is that I did rafting. You might be thinking, so what, everybody does it, but wait before I tell you that while river rafting our boat got upside down and we all drowned. It was a scary moment as the water was going in the mouth and there were constant rapids that generate fear inside you no matter if you are wearing a life jacket or not.
Now that was not enough, I did bungee jumping too and it was another scary moment, in fact, one of the scariest moments of my life. I booked for bungee 10 days prior and was being scared for the past 10 days constantly, now I am not telling you more about it in words better watch my vlog to know how it was.
Trips were down, and now the work of my website was done too, I came back from the trip and launched my digital agency website and now working on promoting it as much as I can.
So this is pretty much it till now, I would be updating it as I go through my life.
